The Super Luxor travel program includes the Karnak, Hatshepsut, the Colossi of Memnon, and the Valley of the Kings. You will enter three cemeteries selected by your guide in the Valley of the Kings. Usually, these cemeteries belong to Ramses III, Ramses IV, and Ramses IX.
What exactly is the Valley of the Kings? It is the place where the pharaohs and their families were buried. This is an old cemetery with graveyards carved into the rock. It is also worth noting that the ancient Egyptians were extremely interested in the afterlife which is why their cemeteries are usually true works of art. It is imposing to walk through the painting-filled corridors and halls that housed the mummies of the pharaohs.
Most cemeteries in the Valley of the Kings were robbed before archaeologists arrived. For this reason, Howard Carter’s discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922 caused a great stir. Despite this late discovery, the tomb was full of treasures. There were golden beds, a throne, chests, and the famous golden mask of Tutankhamun, which weighed about 10 kilograms. Today the mask is in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and can be admired when traveling to Cairo.
